BEAUTIFUL BURNOUT
:: Underworld ::
14 January 2008 / No Label Required / Underworld Label / 4 Trk Remix CD
By Simon Brown

After a somewhat lacklustre return (a welcome re-emergence, but certainly not one that puts them back on previous form) Underworld’s Rick Smith and Karl Hyde take a second track from their current album “Oblivion With Bells”. This is more J M Jarre than post rave trance and the use of classic synth sounds is the key attractive element to this transcendental, low key instrumental (although there are a few mumbled words in there for good measure). At times it’s more akin to Ian Brown’s latest output replayed in slow motion. However, don’t be misguided by the fact that matters seem subdued, as the song soon gets the loops and percussion going.Intelligent worthy trance, not dance
