:: Laura Marling ::
28 January 2008 / Virgin (EMI) / 2 Trk CD
By Parker Knoll

Whilst the equity capitalists at EMI go apeshit about the fact that their head office spent £200k on candles, let’s hope that sanguine and musically precious talents like Laura Marling aren’t made to suffer. OK, so there’s not exactly a dearth of female singer / songwriters at the moment but “Ghosts” has a mellow thankfully-not-exactly-like-Cheryl-Crow sound. It’s a gentle country / folk outing shrowded with a misty verve and underlying sparkle.
